A simple wedding at the Domaine de Blanche Fleur

They met via mutual friends, and spend several months exchanging texts, going back and forth between Nimes and Paris, then created a new life for two to the city of lights, and finally planned their wedding at the pretty Domaine de Blanche Fleur near Avignon, photographed by Lorenzo Accardi. And do not hesitate to discover more pictures of this wedding and its secular ceremony in the full gallery of the post.

The preparations

Virginie and Raphael share their story with us … “We started planning our wedding in the summer of 2016. We chose 2018, for several reasons: Raphael does not like odd years, we wanted to give ourselves some time to plan (remotely) the wedding that we wanted, that we dreamed … We started with the basics: the venue and the caterer. We choose to get married in the south of France (close to our families), especially at the Domaine de Blanche Fleur near Avignon, because we had a crush for this place. By the way, we only visited one venue!

After that, we looked at everything else: dj, florist, outfits, etc. The important thing for us was the decoration, which we wanted to do ourselves. During these two years of preparation, we were able to hunt all the elements of our decor in all the country. This allowed us not to focus on the “stress” of the wedding, thus, to be able to enjoy romantic weekend”.

A moment which stay in their mind

“We started with the civil wedding on Friday, April 27, in the afternoon, at the town hall of Nîmes. The idea was to lighten the day of Saturday to enjoy every moment.

The passing to the town hall was casual (few guests and simple outfits – we were in sneakers, a nod to our first meeting) and very fast. We met in the evening with the family close to the Domaine, to enjoy a bit of calm before the next day.”

“The day started very early ! We had to unload and put all our” famous “decoration in. Fortunately, we had a few extra arms to help us … The morning was dedicated to the decoration and the reception of the different providers. From 13h, once the decorations was set up, it was time to begin our respective preparations.”

“The ceremony was punctuated, perfectly conducted by our officiant, touching but not tearful, with a lot of humor, and sincerity as we wished. After the ceremony, we obviously enjoyed the cocktail party, during which we slipped away for a few moments with Lorenzo – the photographer – for a more intimate photo shoot.

A moment that we dreaded a little more, but Lorenzo put us at ease; and he did well to insist, we would have regretted not having these beautiful pictures of we two.”

“At 8:30 pm, our entrance into the room was festive, setting the tone for our dinner and our party. We had not planned “entertainment moments”during the dinner, except for a cute and successful surprise projection prepared by our witnesses. However, we had planned a ball opening a little more original, but let’s face it, not very mastered, almost improvised. Because a basic slow was not like us, we asked a small medley to the dj: a 30 seconds slow followed by a little electro swing of 2 minutes on which we prepared a small choreography. Then the guests joined us, to finish the party until the early morning.”

“What could (and still can) surprise many people is that we have never, never, been stressed! Neither one nor the other … We rather were euphoric, and eager to see our ideas come to fruition and especially to enjoy this day. “

A particular memory

“Virginie: At the secular ceremony, I move fowards the central aisle, Raphael was back … I stopped at the beginning of the aisle, I waited 20 seconds that Raphael finally turns (at Yacine’s signal). My favorite memory is this one!

Raphael: Coincidentally … it’s also my best memory of that day. However, those 20 seconds of waiting,  seemed like hours! “

A piece of advice for other couples

“It’s complicated to implement, but it is to do nothing by obligation or by default. Concile all stages of preparation of the wedding with good time, leisure time (ex: we chose our champagne during a weekend in Reims). And remember that a wedding must look like the bride and the groom!”
