A wedding in Morocco at the Beldi Country Club

Un mariage au Maroc au Beldi Country Club - Photos et vidéos : The Quirky

A first love that turns into a forever love, this is the story of Alia and Bedir, who got married in Morocco few weeks ago, surrounded by their loved ones and lush vegetation. A beautiful moment full of joy and beautiful colors captured by The Quirky at the Beldi country club

“We actually knew each other from high school in the UAE (Bedir liked me but I didn’t know him since I was a year older). We didn’t speak until he moved here to the United States a few years ago – my friend told him to contact me…and the rest is as you know.”

The proposal

He proposed on a very cold day in a  sculpture park (called Storm King Art Center) a little bit north of New York,  I could tell he was nervous that day but I didn’t know why. We rode bikes around the park and he proposed on top of a large hill with a beautiful view of the valley under a cool (very large) art sculpture (and then I knew why he was nervous).”

We wanted a place that had both Arabic influences and a desert vibe (we both grew up in the desert and have a special attachment to it). We booked the Beldi before we even saw it in person (the owner called us risk takers) but we immediately fell in love with it on the first visit.  For our wedding style, we wanted to combine Arabic influences with a bohemian vibe.

It felt strange- after all that planning the day was finally here- it went by so quickly – I wish I could rewind it and play it again in slow motion so that I could remember every detail.”

Your best memory

“The ceremony- I thought I was prepared but it was so emotional to be next to Bedir and in front of all our family and friends – I kept smiling and laughing because otherwise I was going to cry …also the cocktail hour afterwards, seeing all the guests lounging on the Beldi rugs and cushions and socializing was very fun.”

An advice for other couples

“See if you can have your guests can meet to mingle before the wedding. Because ours was a destination wedding and everyone was coming for a few days, we were able to spend some chill time with friends and family before (and the guests were able to meet each other before). I think this made the vibe of the wedding very friendly and open as everyone started to know each other.”

If you could do it again?

I would change Bedir’s wedding ring size since it was too big and he lost it right after the ceremony. Otherwise, it was the perfect day for us!”

How about your photos/video team?

“Working with The Quirky was great, we gave minimal instructions and the photos/video turned out exactly how we had hoped. The lighting was beautiful and Beatrice and Jeremie were able to capture many candid precious moments.”
